  • 1 chocolate cake 9x13 inch
  • 21 oz cherry pie filling 1 can
  • 0.25 cup kirsch Optional cherry liqueur
  • 3 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 oz dark chocolate For shaving
  • 12 fresh cherries With stems

Method
 

  1. Use a large spoon to serve, scooping down to include all layers.
  2. Prep Cherries – Mix cherry pie filling with kirsch if using.
  3. Make Cream – Beat heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  4. First Layer – Layer one-third of the cake cubes into the bottom of the trifle bowl.
  5. Cherry Layer – Add one-third of the cherry pie filling.
  6. Cream Layer – Spread one-third of the whipped cream over cherries.
  7. Repeat – Repeat cake, cherry, and cream layers two more times.
  8. Decorate – Top with dark chocolate shavings and fresh cherries.
  9. Chill – Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  10. Serve – Use a large spoon to serve, scooping down to include all layers.
