  • 2 tablespoon Italian seasoning Dried herb blend
  • 4 cloves Fresh garlic Minced
  • 1 medium Yellow onion Diced
  • ½ cup Fresh basil Chopped, divided
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese Freshly grated
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil For sautéing
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper Freshly cracked

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in skillet, cook diced onion 3 to 4 minutes until softened
  2. Add minced garlic to skillet, cook 1 minute until fragrant
  3. Add sautéed mixture and chicken chunks to slow cooker
  4. Pour in chicken broth, heavy cream, and add cubed cream cheese
  5. Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, stir to combine
  6. Cover and cook on low 3 hours, stirring once halfway through
  7. Ensure chicken is tender and easily shredded with fork
  8. Add tortellini during final 30 minutes of cooking time
  9. Gently incorporate pasta with sauce, avoiding breaking tortellini
  10. Continue cooking until pasta is tender, about 20 to 30 minutes
  11. Stir in most of fresh basil and parmesan cheese before serving
  12. Ladle into bowls, garnish with remaining basil and extra parmesan
