Hibiscus Iced Tea Cooler

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers Rinsed briefly
  • 4 cups water Boiling
  • cup honey Adjust to taste
  • 2 whole fresh limes Juiced, reserve some for garnish
  • ice cubes For serving

Equipment

  • 1 Saucepan For boiling water
  • 1 Pitcher Heatproof
  • 1 Fine mesh strainer To remove petals
  • 1 Knife For limes
  • 1 Wooden spoon For stirring

Method
 

  1. Bring water to a boil, remove from heat, and stir in dried hibiscus flowers.
  2. Cover and let steep for 15 minutes, then strain into a pitcher discarding petals.
  3. Stir in honey and lime juice while warm, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
  4. Pour over glasses filled with ice and garnish with lime wheels or flowers.

Notes

Steep for exactly 15 minutes to avoid bitterness. Add sweetener while the liquid is hot to ensure it dissolves completely.
