Ingredients

  • 4 large Italian crusty rolls Hollowed out into sturdy bowls
  • 8 ounces dry spaghetti Cooked until just al dente
  • ½ pound lean ground beef Browned and drained carefully
  • 1 ½ cups marinara sauce Thick herb-infused tomato sauce
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella For a gooey melted topping blanket
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Melted for coating inside
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder Provides deep savory bread seasoning

Equipment

  • 1 Serrated bread knife To cleanly cut roll tops
  • 1 Baking sheet Lined with parchment paper
  • 1 Pastry brush To spread the garlic butter

Method

  1. Hollow out the center of the crusty rolls carefully to create an edible bowl with half-inch walls.
  2. Brush the interior with melted garlic butter and par-bake until the inner walls look golden and crisp.
  3. Toss the cooked al dente spaghetti strands into the simmered meat sauce until completely coated and rich.
  4. Stuff the savory pasta into the crispy rolls, top with mozzarella, and bake until beautifully bubbly.

Notes

Par-bake the hollowed-out rolls with garlic butter before adding the pasta to prevent a soggy bottom. Use a thick marinara sauce to keep the edible bread bowls beautifully crisp.
