Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed completely but kept chilled until slicing steps
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened completely to room temperature for smooth mixing
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar blended cleanly into the dairy center base layer
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips melted gently for the glossy top core puddle
  • 1 large egg beaten thoroughly into a smooth golden wash liquid
  • ¼ cup chocolate curls scattered over the warm centers for crunch decoration

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet Pan Large metal pan lined with non-stick parchment paper
  • 1 Silicone Spatula Used to mix the cream cheese filling smoothly
  • 1 Kitchen Pastry Brush To cleanly apply the egg wash over the outer boundaries

Method

  1. Soften your brick cream cheese completely at room temperature on the counter to prevent small unblended dairy lumps from forming later.
  2. Whisk the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract together thoroughly inside a bowl until the texture looks completely velvety.
  3. Unroll the thawed sheet of puff pastry flat across a clean piece of parchment paper to prevent sticking surfaces.
  4. Slice the dough cleanly into six equal rectangular portions using a sharp chef's knife or standard pizza wheel cutter.
  5. Score a neat half-inch border inside the edge of each rectangle gently without slicing completely through the bottom layer.
  6. Prick the internal space inside the scored boundaries several times with a fork to build micro steam vents safely.
  7. Spoon a neat tablespoon of the vanilla cream cheese mixture directly into the middle of each prepared rectangle boundary.
  8. Dollop a glossy spoonful of melted dark chocolate cleanly right over the center of the white cheese filling layers.
  9. Brush the exposed outer pastry edges lightly with a thin coat of beaten egg wash using your pastry brush.
  10. Bake the pan at 400°F for fifteen minutes until the borders puff up high and display a deep golden hue.
  11. Scatter the crisp dark chocolate curls generously across the warm centers to match our reference photo presentation layout perfectly.

Notes

Score a neat half-inch border around the edge of the pastry sheet and prick the center core with a fork to prevent it from rising unevenly. Use brick-style cream cheese to ensure the filling remains thick and stable during the bake.
